Before World Music and the Violin were his passions, Geo played in a rock & roll band (like many others of his generation). A long time ago, while listening to the Shondels from “Tommy James and the Shondels” fame, he had a chance to ask one of the members of the band how to improve his musical playing and feeling. The answer surprised him but also gave Geo some insight which proved invaluable: “listen to Sam Cooke and the old blues masters until you understand where everything comes from”.

This lead Geo to study the blues and the roots of the blues. Then, for a while, all he wanted to do is play the blues - Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King, Albert King, the great Chicago blues players, Buddy Guy, Robert Johnson. Geo learned that songs are feelings expressed through music and blues is the root of the tree that has blossomed into many expressions. Even Jazz came from the blues. Geo especially liked the music that gets people dancing!

Geo thought it would be great to re-visit those times again and remember those feelings, so he asked a few of his musician friends for their help and the Rockin’ Blues Fusion idea was born. Join Geo, Chas Eller and Danny & Julio Rentiera for a fun night of music with an all star lineup of talent - Rockin’ Blues Fusion at Osso’s in La Cruz.
